America was based on a dedication to a notion: that taxpayers could be self-governing, living and working together under the rule of law. Regrettably, but this notion is being eroded by an illness — identity politics. Identity politics and other afflictions that deprive us of personal responsibility and a shared community are keeping Americans out of pursuing this noble ideal.
